Green laser treatment, also known as retinal laser photocoagulation, uses a focused beam of green light to seal leaking blood vessels or destroy abnormal ones in the retina, commonly used to treat conditions like diabetic retinopathy and retinal tears

Advantages

How it works?

The procedure is typically performed in an outpatient setting with minimal discomfort. A numbing drop is used before the procedure to minimize any discomfort. A focused green laser beam is directed to the retina. The treatment usually takes 20-30 minutes. Patients can usually walk out of the clinic almost immediately after the procedure.

What it's used for?

Sealing leaking blood vessels and reducing the growth of new, abnormal ones, which can damage the retina. Repairing tears to prevent retinal detachment. Strengthening weak areas before procedures like LASIK surgery. Treating vascular occlusions, Central Serous Retinopathy (CSR), and Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP). This LASER can be delivered by LIO or by slit lamp. Our hospital has facilities to deliver this LASER through slit lamp as a single spot or multiple spot LASER.

Is green laser safe for eyes?

Due to the eye’s sensitivity to green light, and also green lasers carry a risk of IR exposure, green laser pointers should not be used. Only red lasers pointers (633-690 nm) should be used.
