This is a quick and painless treatment to restore eyesight to how it was immediately after cataract or refractive lens exchange surgery where the vision has become blurry due to misting of the capsular bag.
Procedure makes a small opening in the cloudy capsule that supports the artificial lens in the eye.
This allows light to pass through to the retina, which helps you see more clearly.
This procedure sometimes called a "secondary cataract".
How it's performed
The procedure is usually painless and lasts for approximately 20 minutes. It’s typically performed by an ophthalmologist in their office or an outpatient surgery center.
How long does YAG Capsulotomy last?
YAG laser capsulotomy is a treatment that is used to make an opening in the capsule to allow light to pass through to the back of the eye and help improve your vision. The treatment is routinely done as an outpatient procedure, typically lasts under 15 minutes and involves no surgical cuts.
YAG laser capsulotomy, while generally safe, can have side effects like increased floaters, blurred vision, and, in rare cases, retinal detachment or increased eye pressure (ocular hypertension)
Risks
Some risks include retinal detachment, macular edema, corneal edema, and bleeding into the front of the eye.Some patients may have greater than expected inflammation after the laser.Contraindications Corneal scarring or edema, Presence of iritis in the eye, and Macular edema in the retina.
